Player of the Year

Brandon Donovan • Steel Valley • Pitcher/infielder • Senior
In 2014 and 2015, Steel Valley had two of the best seasons in school history. Donovan was the main reason. After making All-Area last year, Donovan went a step further and grabbed player of the year honors this season. He was a force as a pitcher and hitter. He batted .576 with 14 doubles, 22 RBIs and 24 runs for a WPIAL Class AA semifinalist. He also was 8-2 as a pitcher and averaged nearly two strikeouts an inning with 124 in 66 innings. Allowed only 41 hits and had 1.38 ERA. Will play next season at Division I Radford in Virginia.

Frank Fraschetti • Neshannock • Pitcher • Junior
Was first pitcher ever to have a shutout in both a WPIAL championship game and PIAA final. Finished 12-1 and was terrific in postseason, going 5-0 and allowing only four runs and 22 hits in 43? playoff innings.

Cole Shinsky • Knoch • Pitcher/first base • Junior
Tall left-hander helped Knoch win WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA titles. Finished 10-0 with one save. Allowed only 44 hits in 70? innings and struck out 85. Had 1.29 ERA and was 5-0 in the postseason.

Jake Potock • Shaler • Pitcher • Senior
Helped Shaler to WPIAL and PIAA Class AAAA semifinals. He won four postseason games for the Titans. A 6-foot-5 right-hander, he finished 8-4 with 2.00 ERA. Struck out 98 in 77 innings. A West Virginia University recruit.

Austin Kitchen • Mt. Lebanon • Pitcher • Senior
Will play next season at Coastal Carolina. Had terrific senior season for section champion Blue Devils. Finished 6-1 and struck out 85 in 51 innings. Had 2.29 ERA and opponents batted only .150 against him.

Alex Kirilloff • Plum • Pitcher/outfielder • Junior
One of the WPIAL's best all-around players. Batted .500 with nine doubles, six home runs and 29 RBIs. Was 5-1 as a left-handed pitcher with 1.55 ERA. Has already committed to Division I Liberty University.

Joe Campagna • Blackhawk • Shortstop • Senior
Excellent offensive and defensive player. Moved from second base to shortstop this season. Hit .475 with five home runs and 21 RBIs. Didn't strike out during the entire season. Will play next year at Slippery Rock.

Dom DeRenzo • Central Catholic • Catcher • Senior
Was selected by Chicago Cubs in 40th round of MLB draft, but will most likely play next season at University of Oklahoma. Hit .435 for WPIAL Class AAAA champs with three home runs, 28 runs and 18 RBIs.

Trent Vietmeier • Montour • Pitcher/first base • Sophomore
Despite being only a sophomore, Vietmeier has already made verbal commitment to LSU. Was 5-3 with one save this season. Pitched 49? innings and struck out 62 while allowing only 26 hits. Had 0.85 ERA.

Corey Augenstein • Bethel Park • Pitcher • Senior
Augenstein helped Bethel Park reach the semifinals of the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs. A left-hander, Augenstein finished 6-3 with a 1.94 ERA. Struck out 71 in 61 innings. Will play next season at Pitt.
