Shatori Walker Kimbrough (Player of the Year)
Hopewell

Class: Junior

Height: 5-11

Position: G-F

The scoop: A two-time member of the Fabulous 5 and also a two-time, first-team all-state selection. Walker-Kimbrough played anywhere from point guard to center for Hopewell and averaged 25.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 3.9 steals and 1.5 blocks. Led Hopewell to WPIAL Class AAA title and had 35 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots in title game. She has 1,676 career points. Also is an all-state volleyball player and defending WPIAL long jump champion.

College talk: Walker-Kimbrough has scholarship offers in basketball from Duquesne, Pitt, Maryland, Temple and Villanova, among others. Some Division I colleges also have expressed interest in her for volleyball.

Most memorable moment this season? Definitely the WPIAL championship game.

In basketball, you'd like to improve ... ? My defense.

Favorite school subject? Math.

Something you wish you could do over? The WPIAL championship game my ninth-grade year. I was young and didn't appreciate it enough.

Movie you could watch anytime? "Coach Carter."

People might be surprised to know ... I am in the National Honor Society.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Probably working and giving back to people who helped me.

Destiny Brown
Gateway

Class: Senior

Height: 5-10

Position: G

The scoop: A shooting guard who averaged 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.7 steals. She played at Gateway as a freshman, moved to Ohio as a sophomore and came back to Gateway midway through her junior year. She finished her career with more than 1,000 points.

College talk: Brown will play next season for the NCAA national champion Baylor Bears. She also had other Division I college scholarship offers.

Most memorable moment this season? Being named to All-American teams, making it to the final cut for the McDonald's All-American game and making all-state.

In basketball, you'd like to improve ... ? My shooting range and my defense.

Favorite school subject? Math and science.

Where do you see yourself fitting in at Baylor? As an extra guard who can come in and shoot, attack the basket and also bring the ball up when needed.

Something you wish you could do over? Probably not waiting so long to figure out what to do for school dances. I usually wait until the last minute and then say, 'I'm not going to go.'

Movie you could watch anytime? "Finding Nemo."

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Opening up my own veterinarian practice with the money I saved up from basketball.

Naje Gibson
Seton-LaSalle

Class: Sophomore

Height: 5-11

Position: F

The scoop: One of the few sophomores over the years to make the Fabulous 5. Gibson started for Seton-LaSalle as a freshman and this season was one of the driving forces in Seton-LaSalle's run to a perfect 30-0 record. The Rebels were only the third girls team in WPIAL history to have an undefeated season. Gibson averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and had 11 games with double figures in both points and rebounds. She is considered one of the best sophomores in the state.

College talk: Dayton already has offered a scholarship. Pitt, Syracuse, Memphis and Illinois, among others, also are showing interest.

Most memorable moment this season? Winning the state.

In basketball, you'd like to improve ... ? My dribbling.

Favorite school subject? Math.

Something you wish you could do over? Playing in the state championship. I'd like to do that more.

Movie you could watch anytime? "Love & Basketball."

People might be surprised to know ... I love to bake. I can bake the best cakes.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Playing basketball overseas.

Erin Waskowiak
Bishop Canevin

Class: Junior

Height: 5-11

Position: G

The scoop: Waskowiak is a versatile player who can shoot and handle the ball but also score on the inside. She averaged 20.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals a game. She also made 39 3-pointers for a team that made it to the WPIAL Class AA championship game. A starter since her freshman year, Waskowiak has 1,439 career points.

College talk: Villanova and Drexel have already offered scholarships and numerous others are interested.

Most memorable moment this season? Scoring my 1,000th point.

In basketball, you'd like to improve ... ? Shooting my 3-pointer better.

Favorite school subject? Lunch [laughs]. No, chemistry.

Something you wish you could do over? This year's WPIAL championship game [against Seton-LaSalle]. I just thought we could've beat them, but we just played bad.

Movie you could watch anytime? "Taken."

People might be surprised to know? I love shoes.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully, playing professional basketball.

Ciara Gregory
Jeannette

Class: Junior

Height: 5-7

Position: G

The scoop: Gregory burst on the scene as a freshman two years ago when she was a starter on a team that made it to the WPIAL Class AA championship game. This season, she turned into one of the best point guards in the WPIAL. She can run the show but also put on a show with her scoring ability. She scored a WPIAL-high 50 points in one game this season and led the WPIAL in scoring at 26.7 ppg. She has more than 1,000 career points.

College talk: William & Mary and Kent State have offered scholarships and more Division I colleges are interested.

Most memorable moment this season? Beating Greensburg Central Catholic at their home court. That was my first time winning there.

In basketball, you'd like to improve ...? Everywhere. There is always room for improvement in everything.

Favorite school subject? Probably math.

Something you wish you could do over? Probably our playoff game this season. We lost in the first round.

Movie you could watch anytime? "Like Mike."

People might be surprised to know? I played basketball with boys until they stopped letting me play.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Out of college with a good job or maybe still playing basketball overseas.
