Alayna Gribble (Player of the Year)
Norwin, 5-11, Guard-forward, Senior

The scoop: Two-time Fab 5 pick. Won two WPIAL AAAA titles. Averaged 19 points and 5 rebounds this season. Shot 56 percent from field and 83 percent from free-throw line. Had 54 3-pointers. A 3.9 student, Gribble never missed a game in four years and finished her career with 1,782 points.

College talk: Gribble already has signed with Pitt after orginally committing to William & Mary.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Probably Steph Curry.

Should high school basketball have a shot clock: I think so. Maybe 30 or 35 seconds. It would make the game more interesting.

Most underrated part of your game: Probably my post game.

Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook: I'd say Snapchat.

Nike, adidas or Under Armour and how many pair of sneakers do you own: Nike and I'd say probably 10 pair.

One of your favorites to follow on Twitter: I don't know because I don't use it that much.

People might be surprised to know: I used to be a dancer, until maybe fourth grade.

Amanda Kalin
Pine-Richland, 5-7, Guard, Junior

The scoop: An excellent shooter, but also a talented all-around player. Had 77 3-pointers this season. Averaged 20.2 points, 6.4 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 steals. Set WPIAL AAAA playoff record with 41 points in first-round game. Has 1,359 career points. Also an excellent soccer player.

College talk: Has committed to Duquesne. Originally was going to play soccer in college, but changed her mind last year.

Most memorable moment this season: Beating McKeesport in the first round of the playoffs.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Kyrie Irving.

Should high school basketball have a shot clock? No.

Most underrated part of your game: Getting deflections.

Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook: Twitter.

Nike, adidas or Under Armour and how many pair of sneakers do you own: Oh, Nike. But I only have one pair because my parents only let me have one pair [laugh]. I know, most people have, like, 10 pair. I would like to have 10 pair, but I have one.

One of your favorites to follow on Twitter: I really only use it to check basketball scores [laugh].

People might be surprised to know: In eighth grade, I was the lead in the school musical, "Into the Woods."

Sam Breen
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, 6-1, Forward, Junior

The scoop: Led the Trojanettes to the PIAA Class A title. Averaged a double-double at 26 points and 10 rebounds. Also averaged 3 assists, 3 steals and shot 55 percent from field. Averaged 28.8 points in PIAA tournament. A starter since her freshman year, she has 1,782 career points.

College talk: Has Division I scholarship offers, but Dayton and Virginia Tech are her favorites right now.

Most memorable moment this season: Definitely winning the state championship, and just going into the fourth quarter with a big lead, knowing you're going to win.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Has to be Steph Curry.

Should high school basketball have a shot clock? Yes, but it would take some getting used to. Maybe 40 seconds.

Most underrated part of your game: Probably my passing.

People might be surprised to know: That's a really good question, but I used to play softball until seventh or eighth grade. I was a catcher, but it was really rough on my knees and I wanted to focus on basketball. So I stopped.

Desiree Oliver
Penn Hills, 5-7, Guard, Junior

The scoop: Oliver averaged 18.8 points in helping the Indians to the WPIAL Class AAAA semifinals. Also averaged 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and shot 44 percent from 3-point range. Oliver scored 24.3 points per game in WPIAL playoffs and now has 1,177 career points.

College talk: Holds offers from Duquesne, Toledo, Akron and Cleveland State, with interest from other Division I schools.

Most memorable moment this season: When we played Shaler, I scored 31 points. I was just feeling it.

Favorite basketball player of all time: I like LeBron James.

Should high school basketball have a shot clock: I think it should. I think it would speed the game up a lot, and for players that are looking to play at the Division I level, I think it would help them prepare for that next step.

Most underrated part of your game: I'm not that tall, so I would think people wouldn't expect me to play as big as I do.

Nike, adidas, or Under Armour and how many pair of sneakers do you own: Nike, and I would say close to a hundred. I love shoes.

Emily Anderson
South Fayette, 6-4, Center, Senior

The scoop: Anderson was the linchpin on the top team in Class AAA this season en route to its first WPIAL championship. She averaged 13.7 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game.

College talk: Is committed to play next season for defending Ivy League champion Penn.

Most memorable moment this season: Most definitely winning the WPIAL championship with my team. It was a lot of fun.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Of course I like the classic people like Michael Jordan, but I don't really follow sports too much.

Should high school basketball have a shot clock: It could definitely make more interesting games, but I don't know if it's necessary.

Most underrated part of your game: I don't shoot during games, but I can.

Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook: I'm bad at doing Instagram and Twitter, so I usually just go straight to Snapchat. And I try to keep up with Facebook a little bit to keep in touch with people.

People might be surprised to know: I'm also a band geek. I play two instruments proficiently and I used to be in the marching band. I play clarinet for my concert band and I can still play tenor sax.
