Nelly Cummings, Player of the Year
Lincoln Park, 6-0 • Guard • Senior

The scoop: Finished career as the fifth all-time leading scorer in WPIAL history with 2,411 points. This season, averaged 28.7 points and had 101 3-pointers for a WPIAL and PIAA finalist. Averaged 4.3 assists a game and shot 85 percent from free-throw line. Won 103 games in career.

College talk: Has signed with Bowling Green.

Most memorable moment this season: Scoring 2,000 points.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Kobe Bryant.

Favorite person to follow on Twitter: I don't have Twitter or any social media any more. Too many distractions.

Most underrated part of your game: My passing probably.

Toughest individual opponent: Myself. I'm hardest on myself. I limit myself in some things. Or maybe my little brother, Brandin. He's in sixth grade, and we do a drill where he shoots mid-range shots and I shoot deep 3s — and I can't beat him.

Person who has influenced you the most, other than a parent: Kobe Bryant, just the way he loved the game.

People might be surprised to know: I wake up at 5 every morning just to work out before school.

Andrew Petcash
Pine-Richland, 6-4 • Guard • Senior

The scoop: Leading scorer on teams that won two consecutive WPIAL titles. Finished career as school's second all-time scorer with 1,643 points. This season, averaged 19.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shot 61 percent from the field. Shot 40 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent from the free-throw line.

College talk: Patriot and Ivy League schools interested. Has scholarship offers from Division II schools.

Most memorable moment this season: The state championship with 8,000 people from Reading booing us and almost the whole arena against us.

Favorite basketball player of all time: John Stockton.

Favorite person to follow on Twitter: Joel Embiid [Philadelphia 76ers].

People might be surprised to know: I play doubles on the tennis team.

Most underrated part of your game: My mid-range shot.

Toughest individual opponent: I'd have to go Joel Stutz from Butler. Or maybe it's his twin brother, Jace. I can't tell them apart. Whatever, just say the Stutz brothers from Butler because they get all in my grill.

Person who has influenced you the most, other than a parent: Coach Joe Lewandowski. He works me out.

Nick Smith
North Hills, 6-1 • Guard • Senior

The scoop: Two-time Fab 5 selection. Set school records for career points (1,776) and single-game points (44). This season, averaged 26 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals. Shot 47 percent from field. Led team to three consecutive appearances in WPIAL semifinals.

College talk: Several Division II schools have offered and a few Division I's showing interest.

Most memorable moment this season: Senior night vs. North Allegheny.

Favorite basketball player of all time: Allan Houston. When I was younger, my Dad and I would put on MSG Network all the time and watch Allan Houston with the Knicks.

Favorite person to follow on Twitter: Skip Bayless.

People might be surprised to know: I was on the golf team all four years and we won a total of three matches.

Most underrated part of your game: My defense.

Do you play any playground ball: At Amity Park. It's a legendary court.

Toughest individual opponent: Phil Jurkovec [of Pine-Richland]. He guarded me the best.

Person who has influenced you the most, other than parent: Buzz Gabos [North Hills coach].

Austin Butler
Latrobe, 6-4 • Guard • Senior

The scoop: Led WPIAL in scoring during the regular season and finished with a 29.2 average. Helped team win its third consecutive section title. A sharpshooting guard with deep range, Butler also averaged 6.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 51 percent from the field. School's all-time leading scorer with 1,905 points.

College talk: Has signed with Holy Cross.

Most memorable moment this season: Either breaking the school scoring record or clinching the section for the third straight year against Penn Hills.

Favorite basketball player of all time: LeBron James. I'm a LeBron guy.

Favorite person to follow on Twitter: It used to be Bleacher Report but now it's Lonzo Ball's dad. He's a nut.

People might be surprised to know: I throw the javelin for the track team.

Most underrated part of your game: Ability to pass.

Do you play any playground ball: No, I've always hated playing outside.

Toughest individual opponent: Phil Jurkovec [of Pine-Richland]. Just because he's such an athlete.

Person who has influenced you the most, other than a parent: Definitley [Latrobe coach] Brad Wetzel. He's been like a father.

Robby Carmody
Mars, 6-4 • Guard • Junior

The scoop: Ranked by some scouting services as one of the top 100 juniors in the country. Starter since his freshman year and already is the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,456 points. A versatile player who this season averaged 26.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists and shot 65 percent from field.

College talk: One of the most heavily recruited players in the WPIAL in the past decade or so. Pitt, Notre Dame, Purdue, Syracuse, Ohio State are among schools that have offered scholarships.

Most memorable moment this season: Beating Hampton in the state playoffs.

Favorite basketball player of all time: "White Chocolate" Jason Williams. I wish I could dribble like him.

People might be surprised to know: I read a lot.

Last book you read: "Death of a Salesman."

Most underrated part of your game: Rebounding.

Toughest individual opponent: Daylon Carter of Ambridge when I was a freshman.
