Player of the Year

Frannie Crouse, Greensburg Central Catholic: Crouse, a Penn State recruit, scored 66 goals and had 22 assists this season as the Centurions finished 21-2 and won their second consecutive PIAA championship. Her 208 career goals are the most for a single player in state annals, one reason among many others that Crouse is the Post-Gazette's girls' soccer player of the year. Along with teammate Malea Fabean, Crouse led the Centurions to a four-year record of 81-9-1, a span in which they have won 40 consecutive section games while outscoring opponents, 562-79.

The Rest

Malea Fabean, Greensburg Central Catholic: The other half of the Centurions' star duo, Fabean set the state record for career assists this year, finishing with 117. A Pitt recruit, she also scored 152 goals in her career. This season, Fabean, a senior had 46 goals and 30 assists, the latter of which was a team high, while helping lead Greensburg Central Catholic to a state championship.

Kyra Murphy, Canon-McMillan: An all-section selection each of the past two seasons, Murphy continued to show signs of progress as a junior, recording eight shutouts and allowing only 11 goals in 18 games (0.61 goals per game). Two of her team's four losses this season came in 1-0 games to eventual WPIAL finalist Peters Township.

Katie Alexander, Central Valley: Alexander came into this season with great expectations, having started since her freshman season, and she delivered. A Miami (Ohio) recruit, she scored 20 goals and had 18 assists as this two-year captain led the Warriors to an undefeated season that included WPIAL and PIAA titles.

Sydney Schipani, Moon: After commiting to play college soccer at Akron, Schipani showed why she is a Division I recruit her senior season. A midfielder and four-year starter, she scored 22 goals and had six assists while serving as captain for a Tigers team that finished 20-3.

MaryKate Zahorchak, Seneca Valley: Zahorchak had a strong senior season, as this defensive midfielder and Edinboro recruit helped captain the Raiders to a 20-3-1 record and an appearance in the WPIAL Class AAA championship match. A four-year starter, she was also an All-WPIAL honoree.

Maggie Scott, Shady Side Academy: Scott completed a successful high school career, one in which the Indians made the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs every season. In addition to leading her team to a 20-4 record and a WPIAL Class A title, this senior and Miami (Ohio) recruit had 50 goals and 15 assists. Her 152 career goals are a school record.

Rachel Collage, Elizabeth Forward: After playing defense her first two seasons, Collage thrived with a move to midfield. As a senior this season, she had 20 goals and 14 assists as she led the Warriors to the WPIAL playoffs for the fourth time in her career. Collage will play collegiately next season at Fordham.

Tatiana Ruzzini, Bethel Park: A senior and three-year starter, she led the Black Hawks in both goals (26) and assists (13) as they went 18-4-1 and advanced to the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals. The top goal scorer in Class AAA this season, Ruzzini has received interest from Division II and Division III colleges.

Hayden Pascoe, Belle Vernon: A four-year starter who has made the all-section team four times, Pascoe had 28 goals and eight assists this season. A Kent State recruit, she was also an all-state selection and finished her career with 102 goals, the third-most in school history.

Amber Fichter, Mars: Fichter had a breakout senior season, netting 34 goals and recording 17 assists. In her four years with the Planets, Fichter, a Duquesne recruit, saw her team win three WPIAL championships and one PIAA title.

Abby Losco, Hopewell: Losco was the Vikings' leading scorer in each of the past three seasons, a trend which most recently saw her score 28 goals (along with 16 assists) this season. A junior, who is considered a Division I prospect, she led Hopewell to the WPIAL Class AA championship game this season.
