Post-Gazette's 2014 Girls Soccer All-Area Team

Player of the Year

Kyra Murphy, Canon-McMillan -- The Canon-McMillan girls soccer team finished runner-up in both the WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA championships. But, when it comes to WPIAL girls soccer players, Murphy finishes first. Murphy is a star goalkeeper and was selected the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette player of the year. Murphy had an outstanding season and career for the Big Macs. This season, she had a zero-tolerance policy with many opponents. Murphy had 13 shutouts in 24 games and allowed only 14 goals. A 5-foot-9 senior, she had 28 career shutouts. Murphy will play next season at Duquesne.

The Rest

Casey Aunkst, Penn-Trafford -- Aunkst was a four-year starter who had 17 goals and 30 assists in her final season. A midfielder, she is a Duquesne recruit. She also was the kicker for Penn-Trafford's football team.

Italia Biondi, Penn-Trafford -- Biondi played two years at Greensburg Central Catholic and two at Penn-Trafford. Had 31 goals and 10 assists this season with four hat tricks. Will play next season at Toledo.

Laurel Carpenter, Peters Township -- A senior midfielder, Carpenter had 13 goals and seven assists this season. Team won 77 games in her four years as a starter. A West Virginia recruit.

Bailey Cartwright, Greensburg Central Catholic -- Just call her a super sophomore. Cartwright led the WPIAL in goals this season and finished with 59. She already has 83 in her career. She had 11 hat tricks for a team that won the WPIAL Class A title and finished second in the PIAA.

Sabrina Edwards, Mars -- Edwards was a four-year starter who had a big senior year for the WPIAL Class AA runner-up. Had 34 goals and 28 assists with three hat tricks.

Emma Hasco, Upper St. Clair -- Hasco is only a junior, but already made a verbal commitment to Penn State. A midfielder, Hasco had 25 goals and 23 assists and scored four hat tricks. She has been a starter since her freshman year.

Micayla Livingston, Norwin -- A junior forward, Livingston helped the Knights win the Class AAA Section 1 title. She had 15 goals and 23 assists and also was selected all-state.

Abby Losco, Hopewell -- A senior midfielder, Losco helped the Vikings to the WPIAL playoffs in all four years as a starter. Had 11 goals and 12 assists this season and 71 career goals with 52 assists. A Duquesne recruit.

Jane Schleicher, Montour -- Montour won its first WPIAL girls soccer championship, and Schleicher was one of the main reasons. She scored a team-high 36 goals. Will play next season at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Krista Mosi, South Park -- A senior goalkeeper, Mosi allowed only 10 goals in 22 games and had 15 shutouts. Will play next season at Clarion.

Maya Watkins, New Brighton -- A junior forward, Watkins was a big scorer for the Lions with 41 goals. She had eight
