Post-Gazette's 2015 Boys Soccer All-Area Team

Player of the Year

Nick Sodini, Canon-McMillan -- A senior forward, Sodini scored 32 goals and 10 assists this season, bringing his career total to 62 strikes. The captain this year also netted three hat tricks as well as four goals in four WPIAL playoff games. He earned several accolades in 2015, including all-state, all-region and All-America honors. The senior is undecided on a college but has interest from schools such as Slippery Rock.

The Rest

Kota Furuhata, Fox Chapel -- The senior midfielder was a three-year starter, two-year captain, two-time all-state player and regional All-America selection. He led Fox Chapel to the WPIAL Class AAA final and PIAA quarterfinals.

Christian Payne, South Park -- The senior midfielder had 23 goals and 15 assists as his team made the WPIAL Class AA semifinals and PIAA final this season. South Park has made the WPIAL semifinals all three years Payne has started, including winning a title in 2014.

Ryan Landry, Shaler -- The senior forward was a four-year starter for Shaler and the team's leading scorer each season. He scored 20 goals with 10 assists this season and has committed to Duquesne.

Adam Mascio, Seneca Valley -- The senior midfielder led Seneca Valley to its first Class AAA state playoffs, finishing as runner-up after making the WPIAL semifinals. He had 10 goals and 10 assists and was an all-state selection.

Mitch Ford, South Fayette -- The senior defender is a two-time all-WPIAL selection and led his team to its first WPIAL Class AA title in 2015. He was a three-year starter who won 68 games in his high school career, 50 through shutouts.

Harrison Smith, Allderdice -- This senior midfielder made the all-state team this year and has started for Allderdice since the first game of his freshman year. The defensive midfielder helped his Class AAA Section 4 champions allow just 17 goals in 17 games.

Christian Snatchko, Canon-McMillan -- The senior goalkeeper earned a spot on the all-state and all-region teams. He recorded nine shutouts this season, including 32 in his career, and allowed just 21 goals in 23 games.

Cooper Amos, West Allegheny -- The senior forward was a four-year starter for West Allegheny and captain this year. He scored 17 goals with 11 assists this season and earned an all-state spot.

Matt Rytel, Shady Side Academy -- The four-year starter and team captain this season scored 14 goals as a defensive midfielder in 2015. He has committed to play at Lafayette.

Matt Saluga, Seneca Valley -- The senior forward and captain scored 12 goals with 13 assists as his team's leading scorer this season. The all-state selection was a three-year starter and four-year letterman as well.

Matt Teitelbaum, Sewickley Academy -- The senior forward was the WPIAL leading scorer and helped his team to the PIAA Class A title with his 44 goals and 23 assists. The three-year starter and two-year captain also scored six hat tricks this season.
