Player of the Year

Emma Hasco, Upper St. Clair -- Hasco is a senior midfielder who had an outstanding career at Upper St. Clair. She has signed to play next season at Penn State. At Upper St. Clair, Hasco did a little of everything and was the main factor in the Panthers winning their first PIAA championship. In the title game against Central Bucks East, Hasco scored both Upper St. Clair goals in a 2-1 win. For her efforts this year, Hasco is the Post-Gazette Player of the Year. Hasco finished the season with 19 goals and 25 assists and was named all-state for the second consecutive season. She is in the running for the state player of the year. Hasco was a four-year starter for the Panthers and helped the team reach the WPIAL playoffs all four seasons.

The Rest

Athena Biondi, Penn-Trafford -- A standout junior defender who overcame an ACL injury to have an excellent season. She already has committed to Michigan State after anchoring a defense that allowed only 11 goals.

Jess Boytim, Norwin -- One of the WPIAL's best defenders, Boytim, a senior, anchored a defense that had 19 shutouts and allowed only six goals in 25 games. She also scored eight goals and is a Virginia Tech recruit.

Bailey Cartwright, Greensburg Central Catholic -- Cartwright had a record-breaking season. Her 79 goals set a state single-season record. A junior forward-midfielder, she has 166 career goals and also holds the state career record for assists with 118. She has already committed to Notre Dame.

Deena DeBaldo, Fox Chapel -- A junior midfielder, DeBaldo is a skilled attacker who had 19 goals and nine assists this season. A three-year starter, she will play at Duquesne University.

Amanda Kalin, Pine-Richland -- A junior forward, Kalin had 10 goals and eight assists this season. She also is a talented basketball player.

Tori Kopchak, Mars -- Kopchak helped Mars win its fourth WPIAL title in six years. This junior forward had seven hat tricks and six goals in one game. She finished with 37 goals and 10 assists.

Micayla Livingston, Norwin -- A four-year starter, this senior midfielder will play next season at Dayton. She finished with 18 goals and 24 assists.

Amanda Miller, North Allegheny -- A three-year starter, this senior forward will play next season at Fordham. She had 14 goals and 10 assists this season.

Allison Thomas, Canon-McMillan -- A senior midfielder, she finished her career third on Pennsylvania's all-time assists list. She scored 24 goals this season and had four game-winning goals. She will play at Division I Winthrop.

Emma Thomas, Moon -- There is no doubting Thomas' talent as a three-year starter. A junior midfielder, she had 20 goals and seven assists this season.

Maya Watkins, New Brighton -- Watkins was a scoring machine, tallying 53 goals this season. A senior forward, Watkins finished with 121 career goals.
