Player of the Year

Kirsten Wilson (Riverside) - Pitcher, Senior
Wilson had one of the most dominating seasons of any pitcher in the state, helping Riverside to a 22-1 record and a WPIAL Class AA championship. Wilson had a 22-1 record with two perfect games and four no-hitters. She allowed only eight runs (six earned) and had 19 shutouts, including 11 in a row at one point. Pitched 150 innings and struck out 271. As a hitter, she batted .549 with 5 doubles, 6 home runs and 22 RBIs. Will play next season at Bloomfield College, a Division II school in New Jersey.

Jayne Oberdorf (Greensburg Salem) - Pitcher, Senior
A four-year starter who had a 48-8 career record and more than 500 strikeouts. Led team to WPIAL AAA title this year. Was 21-1 with 239 strikeouts and batted .390 with 15 RBIs. Will play next season at Marist.

Stacey Capp (Montour) - Shortstop, Senior
Capp is a Robert Morris University recruit. A four-year starter, she capped off her career this season by hitting .571 with 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 34 runs and 26 RBIs. Second year on All-Area team.

Alayna Astuto (Canon-McMillan) - Pitcher, Senior
Astuto struck out 18 in 12 innings in the PIAA Class AAAA championship victory. She finished 25-0 with 142 strikeouts in 145 innings. Had 1.06 ERA. Will play next season at Waynesburg.

Olivia Lorusso (Canon-McMillan) - Third baseman, Junior
Helped team win WPIAL and PIAA Class AAAA championships. She had a .390 batting average and showed a lot of power with 9 doubles, 3 triples and 7 home runs. Led team with 35 RBIs and also scored 29 runs.

Hope Pehrson (Hempfield) - Pitcher, Senior
Hempfield always had hope when Pehrson pitched. She was 16-6 this season with a 1.86 ERA and 105 strikeouts. Also hit .313 with two home runs. Finished career with 49-16 record. Will play next season at Seton Hill.

Kayla Briggs (Chartiers-Houston) - Pitcher, Senior
Briggs was big in many ways for Char-Houston. She had a 17-1 record with three no-hitters, including one perfect game. She struck out 172 and had a 1.22 ERA. Also batted .429 with 32 runs scored and 16 RBIs.

Abby McCartney (Canon-McMillan) - Catcher, Sophomore
Made a big impact as a 10th-grader and helped Big Macs to WPIAL and PIAA Class AAAA championships. Had .515 average with 8 doubles, 6 triples and 5 home runs. Had 31 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

Bonnie Pierson (North Allegheny) - Catcher, Senior
Helped North Allegheny to second-place finish in WPIAL Class AAAA. Outstanding defensive catcher who made only two errors. Also batted .398 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs and 36 RBIs.

Madison Shaffer (Neshannock) - Pitcher, Sophomore
Was dominant as a pitcher and hitter. Had 21-3 pitching record for WPIAL Class A champ. Allowed only 56 hits in 111 innings, struck out 199 and finished with 0.49 ERA. Hit .470 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and 32 RBIs.
