Player of the Year

Morgan Ryan • Hempfield • P • Sophomore
When it came time to picking a player of the year in the WPIAL, youth was served. Ryan is only a sophomore, but she was a driving force in Hempfield's march to a WPIAL Class AAAA championship. A two-year starter, Ryan was 19-2 this season with a 0.98 ERA. She struck out 145 in 136 innings and allowed only 97 hits. "She's one of the best to ever come through this program," Hempfield coach Bob Kalp said. Ryan made only one error this season and also helped Hempfield's offense with four home runs and 23 RBIs.

Briana Bunner • Southmoreland • OF • Junior
Bunner has committed to Robert Morris. She batted .500 with 12 doubles, two home runs, 26 RBIs and had a .962 slugging percentage. Helped Southmoreland reach the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals.

Madi Beining • North Allegheny • Pitcher • Junior
Beining was 21-2 with a 1.15 ERA for a North Allegheny team that reached the WPIAL Class AAAA final. Struck out 166 in 156 innings. Also had three HRs and 15 RBIs. Already has decided to play at Gannon.

Claire Oberdorf • Greensburg Salem • SS • Senior
Outstanding athlete who was also second-leading scorer in WPIAL basketball. Four-year starter in softball who hit 30 career home runs. Batted .775 this season with 10 homers. Will play next season at Marist.

Taylor Hoffman • Hempfield • OF • Junior
An excellent defensive player for the WPIAL Class AAAA champions. As a hitter, had .560 average this season with two doubles, two triples, 15 RBIs and 24 runs. Has a career batting average of .543.

Lauren Zola • Seton-LaSalle • P • Senior
A four-year starter who had a 55-10 career record with 737 strikeouts. Finished 16-2 this year with a 0.60 ERA. Had 12 shutouts, one no-hitter and six one-hitters. Also batted .339. Will play next season at IUP.

Olivia Gray • Trinity • SS • Senior
An excellent all-around player, Gray was a four-year starter. A Pitt recruit, she batted .611 this season with 15 doubles, four triples and seven home runs for PIAA Class AAA finalist. Struck out only once.

Tiffany Edwards • Deer Lakes • P • Senior
A four-year starter who was a member of two WPIAL championship teams. A Seton Hill recruit, she was 19-2 this season with a 2.10 ERA and 104 strikeouts. Batted .493 with seven doubles and 34 RBIs.

Bailey Parshall • Belle Vernon • P • Freshman
Made a gigantic impact as a ninth-grader for the WPIAL Class AAA champs. Has already committed to Penn State. Was 21-2 with a 1.47 ERA and 214 strikeouts. Also hit .418 with 12 doubles and 17 RBIs.

Delaney Elling • Trinity • 1B • Junior
A starter since her freshman year, Elling already has committed to Penn State. Had a .580 batting average this year with 10 doubles, four triples, four home runs. Scored 37 runs and had .630 on-base percentage.
