WPIAL Football Regular Season Stats Leaders

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette compiles regular season high school football statistics every year. Below are some notes on the regular season stats.

* Yough's Justin Shoaf won the regular season rushing title for the second year in a row. He finished with 1,968 yards on 257 carries. Shoaf is only the fifth rusher since 1980 to claim the regular season title twice.

* Sto-Rox's Eric Wilson became the first quarterback to throw for more than 3,000 yards in the regular season. He completed 158 of 264 passes for 3,003 yards and 38 touchdowns, which also ranks first.

* Eight quarterbacks finished the season with 2,000 or more yards passing, the first time that happened.

* Keystone Oaks' C.J. Morrow ranked first in receptions with 61. He accumulated 952 yards on those receptions. Morrow was one of four receivers who caught 55 or more passes this season.

* Five receivers accumulated 1,000 or more yards on their receptions. Amahd Pack of Sto-Rox ranked first for the year with 1,352 yards on 59 catches.

* McGuffey's Christian Clutter finished first in scoring. Clutter scored 37 touchdowns and converted a pair of two-point conversions for a total of 226 points. His point total ranks second since 1980.
