Wrestling - WPIAL Team Champions

The WPIAL held its first individual championship tournament in 1936. The WPIAL team champion was recognized at the individual tournament from 1936 to 1978. During that stretch, Waynesburg won 13 WPIAL team titles, while Canonsburg won 12. Both teams had a six-year run of titles: Canonsburg (1936-41) and Waynesburg (1959-64).

The WPIAL switched to a team tournament format to determine its team champions in 1979. Since then, 80 team champions (40 in each class) have been crowned. Burrell ranks first with 14 WPIAL Class 2A Team Tournament titles, including 12 in a row from 2007 to 2018. Canon-McMillan has been the top Class 3A team with 9 titles, including 4 in a row from 2010 to 2013.
