WPIAL Soccer Scoring Leaders

Today's charts feature soccer statistics from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Joe Greiner, who has coordinated its statistical coverage for many years.

The Post-Gazette compiles individual statistics for football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball, but include only regular season statistics. Playoff results are not included.

With that in mind, lets take a look at the boys and girls goal scoring stats dating back to the year 2000.

It's interesting to note that a different player earned the regular season scoring title each year. No player was able to lead the WPIAL twice during this stretch. And there was only one player who scored 40 or more goals twice: Greensburg C.C.'s Jeff Farrell (2002-03). Seton-LaSalle's David DelGreco scored the most regular season goals during this stretch, as he scored 46 times during the 2008 season.

Three girls have won two or more regular season scoring titles since 2000. Greensburg C.C.'s Baily Cartwright was the regular season scoring leader three times from 2014 until 2016. Canon-McMillan's Taylor Schram (2008-09) and South Allegheny's Jonna Handra (2004-05). Cartwright leads the list of girls who have scored 40 or more goals in one season since 2000, as she scored 70 regular season goals during the 2015 season.
